If you were to read our reviews, you’ll find that we have been taken in by Rasmus Faber and his team’s jazz arrangements of popular anime themes, namely, through the albums Platina Jazz ~Anime Standards Vol. 1~ and Platina Jazz ~Anime Standards Vol. 2~. The project seemed like a curiosity the first time we heard about it, but credit goes to Mr. Faber for delivering such excellent results.

So with that in mind, we’re delighted to announce that the Platina Jazz series still continues with the release of Volume 3 on February 8, 2012. The tracklist features such themes from series as Clannad, Trigun, Spice and Wolf, and Wolf’s Rain. A preview of one of the pieces, “half” from Rurouni Kenshin has been posted to the Platina Jazz Youtube page and is featured below. People looking to preorder the album can do so at CDJapan.

Bakemonogatari Full Soundtrack To Be Released in December

For a lot of us, Bakemonogatari was an anime that was high on the charm and presented with it a lot of excellent music. If you are like us in any way, songs like “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari,” “Staple Stable,” and “Renai Circulation” will live long in our consciousness. The same can be said for Satoru Kousaki’s Bakemonogatari soundtrack, which features his usual atmospheric tones along with minimalistic piano melodies. The problem? None of them have been compiled on a CD… until now.

Finally, Aniplex has gotten their act together and have made a belated release of Bakemonogatari’s soundtrack compiled alongside the opening and ending themes we love so much. The entire package is spread across two discs and will be released on December 21, 2011. Those of you interested in ordering the soundtrack can do so through CDJapan or Play-Asia.

A Second Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt Soundtrack In the Works

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt’s soundtrack has really been a hit with a lot of fans who really enjoyed the electronica, R&B, and house music that was on display through TCY Force, ☆Taku Takahashi, and Teddyloid’s music. And for those who were disappointed with a few tracks being left out on the original soundtrack should rejoice! On July 20, 2011, you can expect a release of the Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt Original Soundtrack 2!

Though we didn’t really enjoy the music so much, evidenced in our review, the fact that the first soundtrack sold so well is evidence that many people did. So if you’re looking for more of the same, be sure to pre-order your copy at CDJapan.

Kara no Kyokai Original Soundtrack Secures Release Date

When the Kara no Kyokai DVDs and Blu-Rays were released, most of them came equipped with soundtrack discs from each of the movies. But because of that release, a standalone soundtrack release seemed to be out of the picture… until now!

On March 2, 2011, Yuki Kajiura’s score for the Kara no Kyoukai movies will be bundled in a 2-disc soundtrack package featuring the music from all of the movies. Though no tracklist has been laid out, what is probable is that none of the Kalafina ending songs are likely to be making an appearance. Those who want to pre-order the soundtrack can do so through CDJapan.

K-ON!! Vol. 2 Anime Soundtrack Release Date Set

For those of you who’ve been having a blast listening to volume 1 of the K-ON!! Original Soundtrack, the soundtrack to the second season of the K-ON! anime, the second volume’s release date has been set. The CD will be out in stores on October 6, 2010. You can order the soundtrack on CDJapan.

Like with the previous album, volume 2 will continue to present Hajime Hyakkoku’s light-hearted compositions from the K-ON! anime series. Whether the album will come with a character song or two like the first volume did is unknown for now.

Angel Beats Band Score to Be Out on July 28

For those looking to figure out how to play some of the songs featured in the Angel Beats! anime series, the official band score, titled Keep the Beats, will be released on July 28, 2010. The band score will feature the vocal insert songs from the in-anime band, Girls Dead Monster, and will have the instrumental versions of all 13 songs on the official Keep the Beats vocal album in addition to the sheet music to those songs.

Azumi Inoue Releases Collection of Ghibli Songs

Azumi Inoue, best known for singing the ending songs to a variety of Studio Ghibli movies such as “Carrying You” from Laputa: Castle in the Sky and “My Neighbor Totoro,” the theme song to the anime of the same name, has released a vocal album that focuses entirely on songs from Ghibli’s movies. The album, titled Ghibli Meikyoku Selection~Dear Ghibli, includes the work she’s done as well as covers of other artists’ works such as Fujimaki Fujioka and Nozomi Ohashi’s duet in Ponyo’s ending theme song and Youmi Kimura’s “Itsumo Nandodemo” from Spirited Away.

Release Date for Otakon Theme Song Set for July 30, 2010

The Otakon theme song, titled “Shackles of Night,” will be released on July 30, 2010 for $15. This CD contains music composed by Hiroki Kikuta, with instrumentals performed by Eminence Symphony Orchestra’s founder Hiroaki Yura, and sung by Shihori. The Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku will also sing her own version of the song for the CD.

In addition to “Shackles of Night,” the disc will also have a B-side, titled “Antique Doll,” also sung by Shihori and three tracks that currently have been labeled as a collaboration between Hiroki Kikuta and Hiroaki Yura.
