Steins;Gate Singer Kanako Itou to be at Anime Boston 2012

Steins;Gate from 2011 certainly did well to enthrall viewers with its time-travel-based plot and “Hacking to the Gate,” the OP theme to the anime was sung by Kanako Itou, whose vocals helped weave an aura of mystery and urgency into the mix. Her singing has been generally well-regarded by fans who’ve followed her work on visual novels like Steins;Gate, Saya no Uta, and Chaos;Head and for those of you based in the USA, you can look forward to her appearance at Anime Boston in 2012.

Although Kanako Itou has performed live concerts at events such as Anime Festival Asia and various years in attendance at the Animelo concerts, this will be her first appearance in the United States.

Currently, no schedule has been announced for meet and greets or concerts, but do pay attention as we will update you when we have any news about Kanako Itou’s appearance.

Hatsune Miku Slated to Perform Vocaloid Concert in Singapore

Apparently Hatsune Miku isn’t quite done with her concert tour just yet. After performing to a sold-out crowd at Mikunopolis, it looks like her next destination will be Singapore for Anime Festival Asia.

This concert should provide an exciting opportunity for Vocaloid fans who weren’t able to see Hatsune Miku’s Los Angeles concert, one that was well-received by many attendees. In any event, we hope that you’ll be able to make it out there to see not only the wondrous technology, but also the music, which has enthralled many fans both in and out of Japan.

Maon Kurosaki to Perform at Anime Expo

Maon Kurosaki’s career is still pretty much in its infancy since her music experience prior to performing anisong has been in performing at Akihabara’s Dearstage Club, but she’ll be looking to see where it can go with her first concert outside the Japan. On July 3, Anime Expo attendees can expect to see her in concert at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Maon Kurosaki is probably best known for performing the ending theme for the High School of the Dead anime series produced by Madhouse as well as the ending theme to Toaru Majutsu no Index II. In addition to performing at Anime Expo, Maon Kurosaki will also be participating in Animelo Summer Live 2011 and will release an album containing the ending theme to the Hakuouki OVA.

Yuki Kajiura Presents Solo Concert with Madoka’s Music on June 29

Yuki Kajiura, the anime composer known for her works for Noir, Madlax, My-HiME, has confirmed that she will be doing a solo performance at the NHK Hall in Tokyo on June 29 this year. And as an added bonus, for fans who really enjoyed the work she did for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica soundtrack, she will be playing a few selections from that OST as part of the setlist.

Eminence Symphony Orchestra SMASH! 2011 Concert to Feature Animated Work

The Eminence Symphony Orchestra, in the grand tradition of such performances A Night in Fantasia once again have another concert in the works in Australia.

On July 16, 2011, Eminence presents Memories of Fantasia in conjunction with the Sydney Manga and Anime Show (SMASH!), a concert which will feature musical works sourced from Square-Enix video games and Studio Ghibli anime. On top of that, Eminence will also present Last Goodbye, which is a short musical animated work and will debut at SMASH! 2011. Artists expected to be present include Hiroki Kikuta, Kenji Ito, and Mari Yoshida along with the Eminence ensemble.

Southern California AM2 Anime Convention Adds Scandal to Guest List

Scandal, the four-girl J-pop band made up of Haruna Ono (vocals, guitar), Tomomi Ogawa (bass, vocals), Mami Sasazaki (guitar, vocals) and Rina Suzuki (drums, percussions, keyboards, vocals) will be making an appearance at the Southern California convention AM2 which will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center from July 1-3.

The group probably entered the anime fan’s consciousness through “Shōjo S,” the tenth opening sequence for the Bleach anime. Since then, they’ve gone on to perform such hits as “Shunkan Sentimental” for Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Their work has also been featured in video games in addition to anime and so, should be very appealing to a wide crowd.

Anime Expo 2011 Presents Hatsune Miku Live Vocaloid Concert

Given how popular Hatsune Miku and friends have been lately, we figured it was a matter of time before the United States would be graced with a Vocaloid concert. Looks like that time is now as Anime Expo, which will be held in Los Angeles, will get its first shot at holding the event which will take place on July 2nd.

For those who aren’t familiar, Vocaloid is a voice synthesizer program that has given musicians the opportunity to have a virtual idol sing their music. Hatsune Miku, in particular, has become quite the cultural icon, having had a few Japanese concerts, including the “Miku’s Day Thanksgiving” concert held in March of last year. This year’s concert at AX will be based on that same concert, but will feature a few improvements over the original event.

AM2 Adds Visual-kei Artists SADIE to Concert List

The Southern California anime convention known as AM2 continues to roll out its guest list and the next addition to their concert highlights is none other than the visual-kei band, SADIE.

SADIE, composed of Mao on Vocals, Mizuki on Guitar, Tsurugi also on Guitar, Aki on Bass Guitar, and Kei on drums. As with most visual-kei bands, the emphasis is all in the artistry of the performance and the rock sound. For the purpose of currying interest with anime fans, they have not yet done any music for anime, so this concert should strictly be for those curious about visual-kei or fans who enjoy SADIE’s rock sound and elaborate showmanship.

AM2 Anime Convention Adds Kanon Wakeshima and An Cafe’s Kanon to Concert Lineup

AM2, the Southern California anime convention set to take place from July 1-3 has already started putting together their musical guest lineups. Of the major guests to be announced, the first major announcement has been for the duo of Kanon Wakeshima and An Cafe’s Kanon to perform together.

Needless to say, for anime fans, this should bring a lot of delight. Kanon Wakeshima is known for her cello skills often performed with a gothic lolita sound in mind. She has been notable for being the artist for such works as Vampire Knight’s ending theme, “Still Doll.”

The other Kanon, a bassist for the band An Cafe, will be performing with her. This Kanon brings a legendary Akiba-kei Otaku male sound to the concert. This combination isn’t a huge mind-blower as both did work on the Shiki anime opening theme, “Calendula Requiem.”

Kalafina Named as Guest of Honor for Anime Expo

Anime Expo’s first major concert announcement has surfaced. On July 2, 2011, the trio Kalafina will be performing at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

For fans who don’t know, Kalafina is a trio of singers. This group was initially created to sing the theme songs for the Kara no Kyoukai movies, but their popularity remained so strong that they’ve continued on to this day. All of their music is composed by Yuki Kajiura and includes such hits as Magia, the ending theme to Puella Magi Madoka Magica as well as Sora no Woto’s opening theme, Hikari no Senritsu.

Needless to say, this announcement brings up a lot of excitement and here’s hoping that Yuki Kajiura will also make an appearance!
